Infrastructure & Roads

It’s not just roads. As we continue to grow, we must look to the future. Our county has been met with new challenges from growth and weather changes that have impacted the community greatly.

The flooding that parts of the county saw in 2025 damaged homes and entire neighborhoods. We worked quickly to help mitigate the damage with funding that went right where it was needed most. But there’s more to be done. New zoning rules are being written, and drainage requirements are being updated to reflect the current weather patterns.

In the last four years, the County Commission has funded projects like the new Rollow/Dunlop traffic circle, right-of-way for the widening of Rossview Road, and the next phase of SR 374 (101st/Purple Heart) that will stretch from Dover Road to Dotsonville Road.

Another “unsung” part of infrastructure is knowing when and where resources currently exist. As we consider zoning changes for unincorporated areas of the county, we look to the areas that already have the necessary infrastructure in place — this means power, water, sewer (if possible), and, of course, roads.

Commissioner David Shelton takes all of this into consideration for every zoning change, and he will continue to use practical and common sense in whether or not to approve new developments.
